" How about sorting out odd pages, interleaving blank sheets including
" one at the beginning, and printing again to catch even pages on back
" of odd? Ugly as hell and painful for dissertation-length stuff,
" but it seems like it ought to work. If you're paying somebody
" 25 cents a page, you probably won't want to do this.

Rather than do that, just print two copies. After printing one entire
copy, rearrange the pages so they feed into the printer in this order:
2,1,4,3,6,5.... Then print another copy on the back sides. As the former
page 2 goes through, the new page 1 prints on the back. As the former
1 goes through, the new page 2 prints on the back. Thus you get two
originals, both of which are back to back. Works great for portrait
pages if you can justify printing two copies.
