[net.followup] Summary: Super Terminal for Programmers

bolyard@fortune.UUCP (Nelson Bolyard) (10/18/83)

Here is a summary of the responses I received to my article entitled:
Wanted: Super Terminal for Programmers.

Most of the responses received (>50%) can be boiled down to the following:
"You don't really want a terminal to do that, What you really want is a
shell which lets you edit lines of history..."

I ignored all such responses. If I had wanted such a shell, I would have
asked for one. More to the point, I want to use this terminal for other
operating systems than UNIX, such as CPM or HP's MPE ... (GASP, GASP !!)

Of the responses that actually named terminals, I got the following votes:
Apollo 1
TVI 970 1
Televideo 950	1
HP 262x or 264x 4
Teletype 5420	2
Teletype 5620	1
DEC PRO/350	1
DEC VT102	1
Write your own on a PC	2
Ann Arbor Ambassador 1

None of these terminals/micro's do all the things I requested, most do neither
of the two special items I requested. All the same, thanx for your replies.
