[comp.sys.mac.apps] Tip: WriteNow & Sys 7

Timothy.Allen@dartmouth.edu (Timothy Allen) (05/17/91)

I offer the following tip to users of WriteNow 2.2 and System 7: The
wordmaster thesaurus DA that comes with WriteNow doesn't work by
itself. However, if you load the DA (with font/DA mover under system
6.x, use the option key when clicking the open button, or use ResEdit
to copy all the wordmaster's resources into WriteNow) into the writenow
application instead of the system file, you can get the thesaurus to
work in system 7! It will show up under the apple menu only when
writenow is the frontmost application.

A similar trick may work with other DAs that cause problems.

You might also be interested to know that the thesaurus file itself
does not have to be in the system folder - it can be anywhere. If it
is not in the system folder when you start the wordmaster DA, you'll
get a Standard File dialog box asking you to show it where the
thesaurus file is.

as they say, "system 7 rules!"
