If anybody knows any package on the mac capable of drawing contour
lines please email me its name.

Thanks very much!

I did e-mail this, but others may be interested ...

Contour 81 is a shareware contour plotting application for the Mac.
A practical application example: this type of program is used to
plot isotherms, equipotential lines, and the like from three column
data files or numerical results. This is something the Cricket Graphs
of the world don't handle.

I don't know enough about contour plotting to post a critical evaluation.
I do know that good packages are rare enough that the engineers in
our organization use a home-brewed graphics package for this sort
of output.

It would be interesting for someone who has used this application to
post a review; while there are excellent contour plotting packages on
mainframes, many engineers would love to tap the convenience of the
laserwriter for this application.

I use contour plotting software from mainframe, and capture the picture
onto my own disk.

One software that can possibly be used is 3-D Graph. Contour plotting
can be carried out by choosing the top-view option. But the result
is not really a CONTOUR plot. Another disadvantage of such softwares
is that they run into trouble (or become extremely slow) when one
tries to plot a huge data file. That is the reason I prefer using
things in mainframe. Advantage of 3-D Graph is that it plots everything.

There is also a program called ContourPlot that can be FTPed
from somewhere, but I don't remember where it is now because I don't
use it.

A very versatile contouring program for the Mac is ContourPlot from
Australia. A demo version is available in the sumex archives. Its particular
strength is the ability to superimpose a new grid on the data and then
offer varous interpolation schemes (nothing else I have seen on the mac
does this). It provides publication quality contour output, with _very_
slick curves, point and click changes to almost anything you can imagine.
It also supports shaded countour maps (colour and greys), but I have not
spent much time on that. Its usability is much the same as SurfaceII
(I'm sure that is the name) available on some mainframes, with a much
better interface. It also provides batch processing capability, which
many people will appreciate. The latest version I have seen is 1.2.1.

I forgot to add that one needs a 680x0 (x>0) machine to run ContourPlot,
so a Mac Plus or SE is not enough.

Mathematica does contour plotting.

I need to know if there is any program for the Mac that can transfer
files automaticly from one partion or vloume to another which can be
configured to recognize a certain file name or folder.

Thanks, Ed

Hi! I would like to know is there anyone who knows how to
transfer PostScript to MacPaint file. Is there any
software available?
Thank you for your help.
