Does Freedom of Press work with System 7.0? Do you have to change the
LaserPrinter's driver?

You have to do a little extra work to get FOP to work under system 7.0.

  1) FOP looks for the printer drivers in the System Folder (i.e. the
blessed folder. So you need to either move or copy the drivers from
the extensions folder to the system folder.

  2) FOP uses its Header.ps file to store the Laser Prep info, but the
Laser Prep info is now stored in the System 7.0 Laserwriter driver.
So, if you're using the system 7.0 Laserwriter driver, you need to
open the Header.ps file and delete its contents. (Warning: Don't just
delete Header.ps--FOP will fail if it can't find Header.ps.) Be sure
to save the unmodified Header.ps in case you want to use the System 6.0
     Laserwriter driver for some reason.

  3) Under System 7.0, FOP forgets what driver it's supposed to use to do
the printing. Instead, FOP uses the driver that was last selected in
the Chooser (which is likely to be the Laserwriter driver, right?).
So, when you want FOP to print, you have to a) switch to FOP, b) set up
the printer in the Chooser, and c) tell FOP to print. Ack! What a drag.

Notes 1 and 2 aren't too bad, but 3 is a killer. I hope they get this fixed
real soon now.

Surely it would be better to create an alias so that you can have the files
in both folders.

Thanks for the posting. It should save me much trial and error.
