We are using MathType 2.11 on a variety of Macs (Plus, SE, IIcx) and are experiencing an intermittent problem with copying and pasting into WriteNow 2.2a. Occasionally, empty space instead of an equation is pasted. If the graphic corresponding to the space is deleted, the equation usually goes in the second time. I mentioned this in correspondence to Design Science some time ago (at that time it was with earlier versions of MathType, WriteNow and System software) and they claimed to have never heard of the problem and (as usual, for software developers) said there was nothing they could do about it if I couldn't reliably duplicate the problem. This has now happened to a number of users using the different hardware mentioned above, with a variety of System software. Current set up: Mac Plus,SE,IIcx; System 6.0.x; MultiFinder; 2-2.5 Mb RAM. I have already increased the MultiFinder memory size for WriteNow and MathType to try to work around the problem (in the early days of MathType use, WriteNow would often crash with large documents while MathType was being used via the DA, on a 1 Mb Mac Plus). Please respond here or via email if you have had similar problems. I plan to take the matter up with Design Science again, and would like to know how many others experience this problem. Even if if is, for example, WriteNow's fault, it is still in their ineterest to solve the problem, especially since they recommend WriteNow in the manual. -- Phil Etheridge (phil@waikato.ac.nz) Phax: +64 +71 384 155 Computer Services/Mathematics & Statistics Phone: +64 +71 568 299 x 8339 University of Waikato, Hamilton, NZ.
