[comp.sys.mac.apps] MacWrite II vs. MS Word

triantos@acsu.buffalo.edu (Nick B Triantos) (06/17/91)

Hi.

I'm considering purchasing MacWrite II (with a free upgrade to MW Pro when it
comes out), but I've only used MS Word 4.0 so far. Does anyone have any
comments or ideas where I can find a real comparison of the two? I've decided
to sway toward MW II simply because the price is much less, and I'd much rather
give my money to Claris than to Micro$oft.

E-mail responses, please, and I promise I'll post a comparison summary.

Thanks,
   -Nick Triantos

In many ways MacWrite II and Microsoft Word are two different beasts, MacWrite
II is simply not as high-end or full-featured as Word but is easier to use.
Perhaps MacWrite Pro will change that. For reviews you might want to take a
look at the 3rd Edition of The Macintosh Bible. For a personal opinion I would
reccommend WriteNow for a low-end word processor and Nisus for high-end. I
think both are significantly better than MacWrite II or Word and I have used
all of them. In fact I use Word quite alot because it is used so much by the U
of I.
