#R:ihuxq:-35000:uiuccsb:3200012:000:725 uiuccsb!grunwald Oct 18 16:25:00 1983 As far as CATV data networks go -- from my understanding, our local cable company has 10,000 1200-baud forward-traffic channels set up for the local PLATO system. They're going to try an experimental system where they send the data out via the cable and collect reverse-traffic (e.g. keypresses) via a 300-buad phone modem. This is similar to the current set-up that PLATO has, where the assumption is made that forward-traffic is much more intensive than reverse-traffic and you can get away with 300-baud for input.
