[net.followup] net.moas, net.sheep, etc.

The people making these suggestions seem to think that they are
proposing new news groups along the lines of net.motss, but they
are mistaken. Net.motss is about sexual p r e f e r e n c e s ,
not about sexual p r a c t i c e s .

Not that I'm against a discussion of sexual practices, but in the
interest of the same sort of eclecticism that keeps net.music from
fracturing into net.jazz, net.r&r, etc., maybe we should put all
of the sexual practices into one newsgroup.

Net.raunch, anyone? :-)

But net.moas (or net.sheep or net.babies) are about sexual p r e f e r e n c e
s too!	whats special about net.motss?	I'm for putting them all under
net.deviates.motss, net.deviates.sheep ...etc so I can unsubscribe to them all!

How about net.bigot, for Bob Duncanson? The comparison of gays to
sheep-rapers is, perhaps, forgettable absurdity; now and then, some
of the lower-browed frat boys here in Berkeley get up to such things,
to the chagrin of Marin county ranchers. (Frat boys who then come
back and taunt "faggots" on the streets of an otherwise-intelligent
town.)

But the implicit comparison to baby-rapers is a little more on the
inflammatory side--especially since the overwhelming majority of
cases of child molesting are perpetrated by heterosexual men.

Well, I'm glad that Bob finds that revolting, but I wouldn't want
to be gay, and have behind me in a dark alley someone who puts me
in the same class as a baby-raper. I would feel like my life was
in danger. And with some reason, too.

The last time I referred to someone on the net as a bigot (over
the same issue) I got mail from that person, who offered to pay
the travel-costs to his home, so that he could beat me up.
(Those weren't precisely his words, which were such that the net
has agreed on as dangerously offensive.)

I will wait and see if Bob Duncanson is any better in this respect.
But personally, I doubt that he is. People who publicly express
views like his are, in my experience, invariably more vicious in
private communication.
