A large air battle takes place over Dover, in which "Sailor" Malan,
a leading British pilot, wounds Germany's top ace, Werner Moelders,
who safely crash-lands his Me 109.

Off Brazil the German merchant raider Thor and British armed merchant
cruiser Alcantara do battle; after being hit in the engine room, the
Alcantara breaks off the action and seeks harbor in Rio de Janiero.

Rumors from the Continent imply that a German invasion of Britain
might now come at any day. This is corroborated by an increase in
radio activity at German High Command and increased attacks on shipping
in and around the Isles.

British aircraft raid Trieste, Pola, and Udine, Italy.
