British Force H conducts Operation Hurry, a carrier raid on Cagliari,
Sardinia by Swordfish bombers from HMS Ark Royal.   Meanwhile, the 
carrier HMS Argus ferries Hurricanes to within flying range
of Malta, to replenish the fighter garrison there.

Lord Beaverbrook, Minister for Aircraft Production, is added to P.M.
Churchill's War Cabinet.  

The RAF claims that a recent series of air raids has reduced the port
facilities at Hamburg to wreckage;  Bremen, Wilhelmshaven, and the Kiel
Canal are also said to be crippled, along with the military industries of 
the Ruhr valley.

The French Military Court at Clermont-Ferrand condemns General Charles
de Gaulle to death.
