Heavy German air raids renew over Britain, with airfields as the prime
targets. Manston is hardest hit, with North Weald and Hornchurch also
suffering severe damage. Central London is also bombed by mistake, when
British radio countermeasures divert them from their primary targets.

German fighter escort is improved, resulting in a more even loss ratio
of 30 German to 22 British planes.

In Egypt, Italian bombers strike the British at several points, including
Alexandria, Sidi Barrani, and Matruh.

Germany intervenes as the Rumanian/Hungarian conference on Transylvania
breaks up; the two parties are brought back together for renewed
negotiations.

"One of the ways to bring this war to a speedy end is to convince the
enemy, not by words but by deeds, that we have both the will and the means
not only to go on indefinitely, but to strike heavy and unexpected blows."
- Winston Churchill
