Hitler reverses his previous position on Operation Sea Lion, ordering
that the invasion take place on a narrow, rather than broad, front.

The RAF begins operations from an airbase in Iceland, using Fairey Battle
bombers for antisubmarine patrol.

Border clashes are reported between Rumanian and Soviet troops in Moldavia,
and between Rumania and Hungary.  Von Ribbentrop and Count Ciano, Foreign
Ministers of Germany and Italy respectively, arrive in Vienna to meet with
Rumanian and Hungarian negotiators.

Free French troops take charge of Duala in Cameroons and Brazzaville in the
French Congo.  General De Gaulle warns that he has received a message from
the French governor of Chad, announcing the latter's intention of fighting
along side of Britain.
