Me 110 fighter-bombers score a success in a low-level raid on the
Brooklands Wellington bomber factory.  88 workers are killed, and 600
wounded, for the loss of 6 aircraft; production is temporarily halted.

At sea, a group of German motor torpedo boats attacks a convoy off
Yarmouth, sinking 5 ships.

With rising civil unrest threatening to destabilize Rumania, King Carol
gives full powers to General Ion Antonescu.

Secretary Hull warns the Japanese government that aggression against French
Indo-China would force American reprisals.

Chancellor Hitler, speaking from Berlin, reiterates threats of an invasion
of Britain, and also warns that continued RAF attacks against German cities
would result in massive retaliation.
