The British government begins a "Mother and Child" evacuation scheme,
in an effort to remove as many civilians as possible from London.

The first U.S. Navy destroyer is transferred to Great Britain.

Prince Konoye of Japan warns that nation's people that an emergency
is at hand and great sacrifices will be required.
