Despite warnings from Japan, Churchill announces that the Burma Road will
be re-opened, allowing the renewed transport of arms to China. Japanese
sources indicate that concessions in French Indo-China will more than
offset this move.

The United States prepares for a crisis in the Far East; the State
Department urges U.S. citizens there to leave the area. It is estimated
that about 10,000 Americans reside in the affected region.

In baseball, the Cincinnati Reds defeat the Detroit Tigers by a score of 2
to 1, winning the World Series 4 games to 3.

drag America into the war and to threaten her only hastens the process."
