Greek troops launch a counterattack against the Italian forces, driving
toward Koritza. The elite Evzones, famed for their skirted uniforms,
lead the attack, which catches the Italians off guard and achieves a
rapid breakthrough. An Italian division is threatened by encirclement,
and the Italian columns approaching Yanina are also halted.

For the first night since 7 September, no German bombing raid hits London.
The nighly attacks have averaged 165 aircraft, and have delivered an
average of 13,600 tons of bombs per night.

HMS Laurentic and Patroclus, both armed merchant cruisers, are sunk
by the U-99, commanded by Captain Kretschmer.
