Japan concludes an agreement with the major oil companies of the Dutch 
East Indies.  Japan is to receive 1.8 million tons of East Indies oil
annually.

General Motors president Alfred P. Sloan, Jr., calls for a 6-day
work week to increase defense production.

Italian troops are forced to withdraw from an artillery crossfire
in the Mesarie district of Greece.  Greek and British aircraft bomb
Durazzo and Valona in Albania, while Italian bombers hit Yanina.
