Concluding a week of combat, Greek troops capture Pogradec in
southeastern Albania.  Italian bombing raids on Greek territory since
October 28th now total Greek 604 civilians killed, 1070 injured.
Mussolini announces that Italy will conclude the campaign without
German assistance, while German Ambassador von Papen makes similar
promises to President Inonu.

Nearly 130 German aircraft hit Southampton, attacking at night.
The city center is badly damaged in the raid.

Germany annexes the province of Lorraine, a border region long contested
with France.  Marshal Petain appeals to France to assist the 70,000
civilians forcibly relocated from that area.

Washington announces that a $50 million loan has been extended to the
Chungking government of China.

The border war between Thailand and French Indochina escalates, with
Thai forces claiming the capture of 3 districts and the bombing of two
towns.  Thai leaders claim the war was begun by French attacks against
Thailand.
