For the first time since 7 August, Britain suffers no German air raids
for an entire 24-hour period.

The RAF, however, remains active, launching a night raid against
Dusseldorf.

Rome reports that Premier Mussolini will take personal charge of the
Greek campaign.

President Roosevelt assures Greece that the United States will
give all possible assistance in terms of material, but no specific
promises are made.

"As Your Majesty knows, it is the settled policy of the United States
Government to extend aid to those governments and peoples who defend
themselves against aggression. I assure Your Majesty that steps are being
taken to extend such aid to Greece, which is defending itself so
valiantly." - President Roosevelt, in a message to King George II
of Greece
