The Luftwaffe returns to its bombing schedule, hitting London at night.
The RAF, too, is on the job, striking numerous targets in Brittany and
Bordeaux.

Rumors of a possible invasion abound, and Britain's forces remain at alert.

The Bardia perimeter continues to be reduced. Some 250 British artillery
pieces bombard the defenders, forcing the Italians to abandon their
outposts and withdraw to the city proper.

Tensions in the Balkans remain high. Sources there claim that still
further German troops are entering Rumania and Hungary, and also
claim that two mechanized and one mountain division have been moved
to Italy.

"Once again I speak to you under a Christmas tree -- the last time was
before the Maginot Line, which was supposed to protect France and could not
-- today we are before a sea wall that will protect England only so long as
it suits us." - General Field Marshal Walter von Brauchitsch.
