From: military@att.att.com (Bill Thacker) Sunday, 29 December, 1940 Over 130 German bombers drop 30,000 incendiaries on London, creating tremendous blazes, destroying numerous landmarks including 8 Wren churches and the Guildhall. The raid becomes known as the "Second Great Fire of London." Reports from Rumania warn of continued German buildups along the Yugoslav border. Further rumors place German troops on the Italo-Yugoslav border, as well. As the siege of Bardia tightens, British mechanized forces probe deeper into Libya, keeping contact with the Italian units retreating toward Tobruk.
