The carrier HMS Illustrious, having completed temporary repairs at Malta,
departs for Alexandria.  She is capable of 24 knots, if needed.

Five Norwegian merchant ships, interned in Gothenburg harbor, Sweden
since April leave port, escaping the German navy and minefields to reach
the British Home Fleet.

British forces in Eritrea continue to advance, reaching the Biskia 
railhead.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister bows to German pressure, agreeing to enter
his nation into the Tripartite Pact.

The US Civil Service Commission and National Resources Planning Board
begin a cooperative effort to create a registry of the most qualified
members of 150 scientific and technical professions.
