The British advance in Eritrea continues; Briscia is occupied by
the attackers. In Libya, Italian forces abandon their position at
Mechili. British armor, however, fails to intercept the fleeing units.

An Italian counterattack near Klisura, Albania achieves some measure of
success, though Greek resistance remains determined.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yosuke Matsuoka reiterates his country's
intention to establish a new order in East Asia, likening Japan's position
to that of the United States in the Western Hemisphere.

"As long as the United States regards China instead of the East Pacific as
its first line of defense, just so long will friendly relations remain an
idle dream." - Yosuke Matsuoka
