In an effort to improve the morale of the troops, Italy posts many of her
leaders, including Count Ciano, to active field commands in Albania.

In Eritrea, British forces capture Agordat, but Italian resistance stiffens
and both sides begin massing for a major battle.

Ambassador Grew alerts Washington that rumors are circulating that Japan is
making plans for an attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor.

Rumanian Premier Antonescu orders that all of Sima's Iron Guard followers
are to be executed.

Marshal Petain enacts a new constitutional act; all Ministers and other
high officials are now subject to him personally.
