British-led Nigerian troops occupy Mogadishu, capital of Italian
Somaliland.  They have advanced 355 km in only two days.  The port of
Brava on the Indian Ocean is also captured.

The escort destroyer HMS Exmoor is sunk off Lowestoft by a German 
torpedo boat.

British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden visits Turkey.
