Bowing to German pressure, King Boris of Bulgaria instructs Prime Minister
Filov to sign the Tripartite Pact, bringing Bulgaria into the Axis.

Free French troops led by Colonel Leclerc, assisted by British Long Range
Desert Group patrols, captures Kuffra in southeast Libya.

The US Navy organizes the Atlantic Fleet Support Force.  Composed of 3
destroyer squadrons and a number of patrol aircraft, its mission is to
guard convoys in the Atlantic.

The RAF stages a 100-plane night raid on Cologne.
