President Roosevelt immediately requests $7 billion in appropriations
under the newly-signed Lend-Lease law. Before a cheering House of
Commons, Prime Minister Churchill expresses Britain's gratitude for the
passage of the measure in glowing terms.

The RAF launches its first heavy raid against Berlin of 1941, and also
hits Hamburg and Bremen. The Luftwaffe responds with an attack on
Merseyside.

Rumors from the Balkans state that Yugoslavia will sign a treaty with
the Axis on Saturday, but the terms are unknown.
