Before a cheering House of Commons, Prime Minister Churchill expresses Britain's gratitude for the passage of the measure in glowing terms. The RAF launches its first heavy raid against Berlin of 1941, and also hits Hamburg and Bremen. The Luftwaffe responds with an attack on Merseyside.
