Monday, 24 March, 1941

General Rommel launches his first offensive in Libya, using Italian forces
and the 5th Light division.  He quickly secures El Agheila, which the
Commonwealth forces abandon without serious resistance.

Turkey and the USSR reach agreement on a Neutrality Treaty, each promising
to remain neutral in the event of an attack on the other.

Despite a newly-arrived warning from London that Yugoslavia must not join
the Axis, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Yugoslavia depart for
Vienna.
