Wednesday 2 April, 1941

Units under German Rommel reach Agedabia. Part of his forces turn north,
along the road to Benghazi, while other units drive overland across the
"Benghazi Bulge" toward Msus and Ben Gama.  General Wavell visits the front
and elects to recall General O'Connor, who is currently convalescing.

Hungarian Prime Minister Count Pal Teleki learns that General Werth has
made arrangements for the entry of German troops into Hungary.   After
denouncing Werth as a traitor, he commits suicide.

The carrier HMS Ark Royal delivers a small number of Hurricane fighters to
Malta.

Roosevelt orders 10 Coast Guard cutters to be transferred to the Royal Navy.

The He 280, the world's first jet fighter, makes its maiden flight.
