With the Metaxas line quickly collapsing, German units enter Salonika.
The Greek 2nd Army, cut off by the rapid German advance, surrenders.
The Monastir Gap in Yugoslavia is also captured by German troops, allowing
another pathway into Greece.

German forces in Austria and Hungary join in the attack on Yugoslavia,
capturing Maribor and crossing the Drava. In Zagreb, a pro-German
Croation national government is proclaimed.

An RAF night raid on Berlin destroys the State Opera House there, enraging
Adolf Hitler.

The United States concludes an agreement with Greenland which re-affirms
Greenland's allegiance to Denmark but grants the US full powers to defend
the island. The Danish minister in Washington approves, but the Copenhagen
government protests.

"A fortnight ago I warned the public that an unbroken continuance of
success could not be hoped for; that reverses as well as victories must be
expected; that we must be ready, indeed, we always are ready, to take the
rough with the smooth." - Winston Churchill
