Tuesday, 22 April, 1941

Greek forces in Thrace lay down their arms.  Nearly 16,000 Greeks have been
killed in the war, and over 210,000 captured.  Italy has lost almost 14,000
dead, with 25,000 missing in action.

The USSR sends an official protest to Germany over repeated violations of
Soviet air space by high-altitude reconnaissance flights.

German troops pause at Thermopylae to reorganize for a major assault.
The evacuation of British troops begins at ports in southern Greece.

The United States sends two thousand soldiers to reinforce the garrison in
the Philippines.

German bombers repeat their last night's raid on Plymouth.
