Saturday, 26 April, 1941

German paratroops capture Corinth, Greece, but the important canal bridge
there is destroyed before it can be captured.  As the SS Motorized
Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler crosses to Patras, the rearguard at
Thebes is forced to withdraw.

General Papagos resigns as commander-in-chief of Greek forces.

In East Africa, Commonwealth troops capture Dessie, together with 8000
Italian soldiers.
