Monday, 12 May, 1941

The Tiger convoy reaches Alexandria, deliver 238 tanks and 43 Hurricane
fighters to the troops of the Western Desert Force.

Admiral Darlan meets Hitler at Berchtesgaden to discuss increased
Franco-German cooperation.  Hitler seeks the use of Vichy bases in Africa
and the Mideast.  

The USSR, meanwhile, recognizes the pro-German government of Iraq.  The
nation's recent diplomatic gestures are apparently an attempt to placate
Germany.

German aircraft are for the first time reported operating in Iraq

"Should war occur between the United States and Germany and should it be
prolonged, the political reasons which led France to follow the road of
collaboration would be reinforced by even more decisive practical reasons.
