*** CALL FOR VOTING *** I hereby propose creation of a new newsgroup devoted exclusively to all aspects of Dravidian culture, defined in the following manner. The pre-indo-Aryan civilization of Indian sub-continent including Sri-lanka, and its modern derivatives. The pre-Aryan includes, Indus valley civilization, and many aspects of Hinduism. The modern derivatives include the Southern Indian and Northern Sri-lankan history, language, literature religion and culture. I furthur propose that this group not be moderated. Finally, I propose that the name of the new group be 'soc.culture.dravidian'. For newcomers, (like me), the formal procedure required to establish such a group involves atleast the following two phases: 1) VOTING A call for votes will be posted to 'news.announce.newgroups' and people will be allowed to vote positively or negatively for or against the new group during a 21-31 day voting period. I'm willing to be the vote taker. To vote you, please send e-mail to mvishnu@csg.uwaterloo.ca The text of your message should be one of the following lines. I vote for the newsgroup soc.culture.dravidian as proposed OR I vote against the newsgroup soc.culture.dravidian as proposed 2) THE RESULTS If no serious objections are raised, and if 2/3 majority is for creation of new group, and 'for' votes outnumber 'against' by at least 100, The net czars will accede to demand and create the new group.
