This is from The Voice of the Buddha. O monks, when the teaching on the doors of the Dharma was given, eighty-four thousand devaputras from among the assempby of gods generated the thought of perfect, complete, and unsurpassed Enlightenment. Thirty-two thousand devaputras who had previously praticed good conduct attained the stage of pure patience, and some thirty-six million devaputras, free of defilement and lack of clarity, purified the eye of the Dharma. And the whole realm of Tusita was showered with petals, up to the knees. I have fallen in love with this book. The imagery is astounding. I particularly like the image of the petals filling the Tusita realm. This is just a tiny sample, there is so much more fun stuff here. Are there any fans of this book out there? (I am completely new to Buddhist sutras)
