Japanese isolates (HCV-J1, -J2a and -J2b) showed 17 to 19%
diversity of nucleotide sequence from the original isolate (HCV)
in
the United States. The nucleotide sequences of 7 clones derived
from the Plasma (HCV-J1) were basically identical, but those of 8
clones derived from the liver specimen were classified into two
types (HCV-J2a (5 clones) and J2b (3 clones)).
