Cybernet is Control Data Corporation's commercial timesharing network. In addition to CDC machines, it also hosts IBM/IBM lookalikes and several supercomputers (Cray-1 / Cyber 205). In fact, I have heard that there are more IBM type computers on the network than CDC machines, partly as a result their acquisition of the Software Bureau in their successful anti-trust suit against IBM. Plato, the computer instruction system, is also on the Cybernet. D. Chou University of NC, Chapel Hill {mcnc|unc|duke}!ecsvax!hsplab

In response to the question about what / where is Cybernet, I felt this was of enough general interest to many people. Cybernet is a service provided by Control Data Corporation. It provides access to large "scientific" processors and applications. Cybernet is used by com- panies working in Computer-Aided Design, research, etc. It also gives access to many Technical references. To gain acess to Cybernet, your best bet would be to get a demonstration from your local Control Data Professional Services Division (PSD) salesperson. John
