[net.cse] A survey of Micros for CAI.

sean@garfield.UUCP (Sean Byrne) (10/08/83)

I would like information of micros available to do
CAI. Are there any established microsystems that are proven
to work with a large course content using CAI?

The Questions:
--------------

  1) Name and Manufacturer.
  2) Cost of a) 1 b) 25
  3) Floppy disk: a) included or not b) price c) size d) controller
3.1) Hard Disk: a) price b) size b) controller
  4) Shared resources hardware & software available.
  5) Memory (RAM) - Maximum Memory.
  6) Version of Basic. Microsoft, whatever.
  7) Authoring Languages: PILOT, DECAL, etc.
  8) Languages: basic, pascal, fortran,
  9) Processor (for compatibility):
 10) Operating System: OS-9, CP/M, XENIX, Unix-look alikes.
 11) Reliability: Does it last?
 12) Service: Intelligence of service people and response time.

What authoring languages are there? And what micros are
supported? I need to know about shared resources hardware and
software for micros in general. I know about TRS-80 Network
Controller and Commodore's MUPET and IBM's PC-NET. Also,
a hard disk is a must considering the size of the course offered.
I would appreciate any and all information anyone could
give me.

Comme d'habitude, I will summarize and post to the net.

PS.	Everything is a trademark of everything thats not a
	trademark of everything else.

Please send all info/requests/thermonuclear detonations by mail to:
