<for whaterver your gobbler is> Hello, I am a student in a school of about 2500 students. We have some computer courses on languages like Fortran, Pascal and Basic. There are about 200-300 students in the departement. We now have a PDP-11/23 running RT-11/TSX+ ,9 Terminals and one high speed printer. (You don't have to tell me it's awful!). Now, our school is ready to upgrade our computer system and they say they will even go up to a VAX 11/780 if necessary. But before they decide, they want a detailed plan of the system to buy, it's configuration in the school, etc... Are there any schools or institutions which could help us by telling us: 1) What system they have. (what hardware) 2) What they use it for. 3) Number of students on it. 4) Any complaints, handicaps, etc on this system. 5) Approximate cost (Tell if US funds). 6) What software is on it. 7) Etc....... This is a personal request from me( I am the system operator right now) Any information will be used to build up this plan they are asking for. Right now we are thinking of a VAX with 40-50 terminals, printers, a phone line, maybe plotters, etc. It will support 200-300 students *ALL PROGRAMMING AND COMPILING* and possibly a section of it will be used by the library.
