[net.cse] request for long-range university computing plans

We are interested in developing a long-range plan to meet faculty and
student computing needs at Emory University.  From previous
traffic on the net I have seen plans which other universities have
developed to meet their educational and computing needs.  If you
have access to such a report from your university and would be willing
to share it with us it would be greatly appreciated.  If you have
information which can be sent over the net that would be fine or
via U.S. mail for longer documents.

We are particularly interested in how other universities have integrated
micros into their computing mix and whether students are required to
purchase a computer when they enter.  Another issue we will address
is whether it is advisable to try to commit to specific hardware or
whether the commitment is best made to an operating system independent
of hardware.
