Recently, I was told of a possible copyright infringement
of a book I was involved with and I am seeking the good
offices of the net to find out further information.
A traveler remarked that my book, Fanget An: An AlgolW Primer,
was being sold for course use at a California university,
possibly Stanford, UCB or UCLA. Since I hold the copyright
and have not been informed of these sales, I am curious
whether this tale is true. I would appreciate any information
any of you might have, particularly those of you at the
schools I named.
History:
In 1977 and 1978, Roger Palay and I collaborated on a textbook on
AlgolW, which we were teaching at the University of Michigan.
The book was published by the Collegiate Press. We retained
the copyright, granting limited rights to the publisher to
print the book. Those rights expired in 1983. The publisher
had filed for bankruptcy in 1981 and had failed to pay the
last year's royalties. We have had no communication with the
publisher since then.
