LOCUS ECORRG01 129 bp ss-rRNA RNA 09-MAY-1991 DEFINITION E.coli 23S ribosomal RNA (approx 80%), fragment A. ACCESSION K01107 KEYWORDS 23S ribosomal RNA; ribosomal RNA. SEGMENT 1 of 26 SOURCE Escherichia coli rRNA. ORGANISM Escherichia coli Prokaryota; Bacteria; Gracilicutes; Scotobacteria; Facultatively anaerobic rods; Enterobacteriaceae. REFERENCE 1 (bases 1 to 129) AUTHORS Branlant,C., Krol,A., Machatt,M.A. and Ebel,J.-P. TITLE Structural study of ribosomal 23 S RNA from Escherichia coli JOURNAL FEBS Lett. 107, 177-181 (1979) STANDARD full staff_review COMMENT [FEBS Lett. 107, 177-181 (1979)] found difficulty in obtaining overlapping fragments encompassing the whole 23S rRNA molecule. There are about 60 sequence differences between given sequence and that derived from the 23S rRNA gene sequence <ecorgnb>. Microheterogeneity between different rRNA operons may explain some of the discrepancies. Another significant difference is that the alignment of large fragments by [FEBS Lett. 107, 177-181 (1979)] is not in agreement with the gene sequence. Finally, some overlapping fragments were located distantly from each other in the structure, so that some sections of the molecule appear in two different locations in given sequence. Sequence heterogeneities found by [FEBS Lett. 107, 177-181 (1979)] are shown as variations in the Sites Table.
