            [1] mRNA, exons only. Two forms of glucoamylase protein (G1 and G2)
            are derived from the same gene through alternate splicing. They are
            enzymatically and immunologically related, and have identical
            N-terminal amino acid sequences, but differ in the COOH-terminal
            region. A 169 bp intron (intron E) is spliced from the large mRNA
            to generate a smaller mRNA which encodes the G2 protein. Promoter
            sequences were found at positions 98-105 (CAAT), and 161-167 (TATA)
            . This G1 sequence shows significant homology to the G1 sequence of
            A.awamori (see separate entry).
