Aside from the obvious observation that a VAX, being general purpose, is no better for military purposes than any other application (and this applies to most other computers here, too), the thing that amazes me is that the USSR wanted a 782. My understanding is that the primary advantage of this two-brained VAX is that it is supported by DEC field service. But I can't see the Russians taking much advantage of that fact.
