You are probably correct in saying that such copying of US ICs is an expensive process. However, it should also be a buggy one - ie you are working with a copying technique (using photos as a guide) that would seem to decrease yeild sharply. This is important in military applications, since reliability is an extremely important goal. Jim -------

Copying IC's does not reduce yields that significantly, the Japanese have been doing it for years, and look at the position they are in now. (This is not a cut at the Japanese, it is a FACT.) murray at intelqa
