Note , technology is not every "kiddie on the block" having a computer, it is the sophistication and the usefullness of the device.(very general statement). And so what, what do most of the kids probably do! Play there stupid little games. Maybe not, maybe your kids are different than the hundreds(almost) of little kids that i know. And to the point of the USSR not coming close to this particular standard, so what? Who cares? What the ----! No effect on us here anyhow!...
