{} When I was 12 years old I read a book by Sylvia Louise Engdahl and became "enlightened". Of course, the answer to an arms race was to expand into space! We were at Engdahl's so-called critical point, where we must either expand into space or blow our selves to smithereens. Since then, I've had a lot of years to think about it. Space is not how you avert a nuclear war. Space is what you do to divert your technological itchiness *after* you're no longer building bombs. But we have to get to that point first. -- -=< Lady Arwen >=- ...sdcsvax!sdccsu3!arwen
