About ten years ago, we got the same spiel. Someone recommended us, but they couldn't say who. We also wondered "who are those guys..." We decided it was just a come on for insurance sales and didn't pursue it. Interesting though, I havn't heard a single word about them since, which removes them from the usual crowd of insurance companies. Tim Mahar

They really are a legit social organization, and (at least the deputies I've talked to) view the insurance as merely an outgrowth of their more broad philosophy of helping others in need. The reponse time on claims is usually moderately good, and often you might recieve "extras" when you do have a claim. Like clothes and food when your house burns down. Nice. If I were thinking about joining, tho, I would just look at the insurance. I mean, there lots of organizations you join for free, right?
