[comp.dcom.sys.cisco] AGS/2 & AppleTalk

rlinton@tcs.com (Richard Linton) (08/08/90)

I've been trying to add AppleTalk routing to my Ciscos. Right
now I have several routers doing IP, Novell and hopefully AppleTalk.

The problem is that the Cisco thinks it's sourcing RTMP packets, but
my Sun's "etherfind -x -apple" is showing the RTMP packets being
sourced with DDP packet type 2, which is AppleTalk's Name Binding
Protocol. Because of this, the Cisco is able to see other Macs
and my GatorBox, but none of them can see the Cisco. The Gator
can see the Cisco, but that's it.

My question is, are there people out there doing AppleTalk routing
with the AGS/2, and did you encounter any problems? I have friends
running AppleTalk with the Cisco, but they're bridging, rather
than routing.

Thanks in advance.

make sure that your cisco's firmware is at least 8.1 for appletalk
version 1. For version 2 appletalk, you'll have to wait until 8.2
from cisco this fall. However, we've successfully bridged phase 2
with 8.1...
